Wolf Induction Cooktop
December 8th, 2005
We like cooking with gas, because we savor that primal connection to flame. But we also really like a clean cooking experience, and for that we turn to induction cooking.
It’s almost magical. Induction burners use electromagnetism to create heat in steel or iron cookware. The pots and pans get hot (thanks to electrical resistance) and respond immediately to current adjustments, yet the cooktop itself stays cool. Because nothing bakes on to the burner as with electric stoves, or falls through as with gas stoves, cleanup is as simple as a damp sponging. The pans get hot enough to stir-fry, but induction really excels at low temperatures. We use ours for homemade stocks, which Marie simmers for 24 hours before she even starts the soup.
TV Dinner
November 19th, 2005
What happens when an internationally acclaimed industrial designer, who did most of his work in the furniture industry, meets a very, very traditional vacuum cleaner manufacturer?
The brand new range of highly unique consumer electronics from HE was one of the most sensational presentations during this year’s IFA. It is the result of an open and innovative collaboration between HE and one of the most influential Dutch designers Marcel Wanders, that was presented for the first time last month in Berlin.
The “Wave TV” is a real microwave with an integrated TFT screen in the door! How extremely amusing… that’s what we call TV dinner… watching your favorite soap - while your microwave heats up mac and cheese. And on top of it, it comes with an integrated DVD player.
We don’t want to over promise, but do check out their new website and be highly entertained.
We want to see more innovative collaborations like this one please…
