EcoGold Goodies
August 15th, 2008
Toby Pomeroy’s nature-inspired Prism Earrings are forged from one piece of solid 18 karat EcoGold, and the artisan methods used to create the jewelry hark back to an ancient era. Living in the foothills of the Himalayas, a young boy by the name of Toby Pomeroy was captivated by native artisans creating stunning woodcarvings, furniture, jewelry and brass vessels using only simple tools, bare hands and plenty of imagination. Today, his eponymous studio stands for a handful of young artists influenced by the beauty and simplicity of nature, just like him.
Pyroman Mom brooch
July 2nd, 2008
The Pyromance collection of brooches combines Eero’s drawings with vivid colors. The drawings are hand-engraved on silver plate, which gives each its own unique look. When the brooch is worn on the upper sleeve, it emphasizes its design origin of the tattoo theme. Made by Chao & Eero Jewel.

You Jerk Earrings
May 28th, 2008
No need to tell him how you really feel when you’ve got Oakland’s Mark Poulin to do it for you. This clever fella creates jewelry with “tongue in chic.” For instance, his You Jerk voice bubble earrings are evocative of our favorite Sunday morning comics with their youthful playfulness (and the pale blue brings out baby blue eyes). By fusing sterling silver and kiln-fired enamel, he also creates adorable reversible necklaces and bracelets.

A Lovely Locket
May 21st, 2008
We haven’t seen a worthy locket since we were in the sixth grade, back when we toted pics of our crush du jour inside. This early 1900s-inspired design makes us feel all warm and fuzzy and evokes our sweet, innocent youth (some of us have learned the hard way which jerks don’t deserve to dangle near our hearts). An itty bitty pen slides out to reveal pictures that fold out, accordion-style. So the next time someone asks to see a pic of your beau, you won’t have to o rely on your bulky camera phone.

Mood Jewels
May 20th, 2008
We are moody and then some, as you may have noticed (that’s where the chocolate in Epicurean Delights proves handy). There are days we feel a little bit Nile queen; other times when our inner rock goddess comes shining through. Esther K’s fashionable jewelry (particularly the Jacqueline necklace) suits fickle females since they cater to ever-changing whims. There is no one look associated with these designs—they have multiple personalities, crafted from brass, which takes on a tarnished finish with wear.

Calling Lady Luck
May 13th, 2008
These Civil war era dominoes caught our attention. It’s because the dominoes were handmade by soldiers and craftsmen from ebony, bone and brass tacks. Each one has its own unique history and will serve as a conversation starter when you wear it around your neck on this 18’ sterling silver chain (you can shorten it to your desired length).

Rebecca Overmann
May 9th, 2008
Love the classic and the contemporary? Artist Rebecca Overmann cleverly melds the two to create a stunning collection of understated jewelry. Her hand-forged designs are downright flawless, created with the mantra that less truly is more. Sculpted shapes and clean lines boast a refined structure balanced by movement. We’re in love with the diamond dot rings

Beautiful Bits Of Jewelry
May 8th, 2008
We love the sound of Magma Jewels. Of course, the collection itself is worthy of adoration. Portland’s Blake Van Roekel uses her smart metalsmithing techniques to whip up this distinctive line of compelling, colorful and organic lampworked glass jewelry. The beads are unique, reflecting the natural flow of glass. Inspired by life. Worn everywhere. Loved by everyone (you’ll see when strangers ask you where you bought your pieces).

Meet Melissa Borrell
May 5th, 2008
Once again, the topic is jewelry. This time the artist is Melissa Borrell who brings to light the complexities that lie between structure and fluidity, systems and chaos, movement and transformation, perception and reality. She strives to create fashionable items that function in the world as images or objects in addition to adornments. And if we’ve somehow confused you with this wild description, just think of it this way: her jewelry, such as the signature pop out pendant, is pretty as heck.
